News From Miss. Ali, week of October 12th

This week in our class our unit was Safety. We talked about different people we can go to if we need help. The children gave some great examples of "helping" people in our community, such as a firefighter, police officer, mom, dad, babysitter and teacher! We talked about what phone number we can call if we have an emergency. 9-1-1!! The children made some colorful telephones and glued a bunch of 9-1-1 numbers all around it! We also made some beautiful tiles for our Art Exhibit at the end of October.

The children are doing a wonderful job practicing their letters, numbers and shapes in their Handwriting Without Tears workbooks. We are also moving along with our math and language arts worksheets. We are getting better at holding a pencil and writing our names.

We have started journal entries, and will continue to do one per month.

Drama was great this week with Miss. Vanda! The children acted out different characters from the book " Flap Your Wings" by Dr. Suess. They had a fun time expressing themselves and acting silly!!
